Frequently Asked Questions

List of frequently asked questions

How cold is it? Should we wear something warm? The rink area averages between 40-60 degrees year round. Our lobby averages 69-72 degrees. You will want to dress warmly and in layers. Gloves, sweatshirts, and socks can be purchased at the front desk.

Do I need to wear a helmet? Helmets are not required, but we recommend them for new skaters and children. We now offer free loaner helmets!

Do you have walkers? While we don't offer walkers, we do offer free bucket skate aids in the Home Depot Bucket Section! These stack up to your belly button and offer great support to get you started with skating. They can be stacked to the perfect height, which forces you to skate with the proper stride. They are required to stay in our coned off beginner/bucket section on the ice.

Do you have sleds to ride on? We have bobby the seal rentals for $10. The bobbys are great to push as a skate aid or ride on.

Can I walk on the ice to help my child? You are welcome to walk on the ice with our spikys! Spikys are ice cleats that strap to the bottom of your closed toe shoes. Admission and skate rental is required. You are welcome to trade your spikys for skates at any time.

At what age can my child start skating? The Ice Factory does not have an age limit, but generally children are able to skate after they are comfortable walking.

What size skates do you carry? We have skates from child's 6 to Adult size 15. We also offer double bladed skates for toddlers that strap to their closed toe shoes.  Skates come in whole sizes only. To help you find the right size, give our staff your current shoe size and we'll give you the correct size that matches. If it's not correct, our staff will gladly switch them for you

Do we sharpen skates? We do offer skate sharpening services. Hockey skates are $12 on demand or $10 overnight. Figure skates require precision sharpening and cost $20. On demand services are generally available depending on staffing availability.

How long are sessions?  Each session length is listed on our schedule. They are usually 2-3 hours in length.  Please note that each session is separate (e.g., if you attend the 2:00-4:00pm session and wish to stay for the 7:00-10:00pm session, you will have to pay admission and skate rental for both sessions)

Do you serve food? The cafe is open during public skating sessions, serving a variety of concessions.

Can I bring in outside food or beverage? No, outside food or beverages are NOT allowed in the Ice Factory.  The ONLY exception is given when a party may bring in a cake or ice cream with an OFFICIAL Ice Factory Birthday party package.

I'm in a wheelchair, can I go on the ice? Wheelchair users are welcome on the ice with paid admission. You'll need to be accompanied by an escort who will be able to walk with you in spikys or on skates (provided free of charge). Powered or non-powered wheelchairs can go on the ice if they can be safely operated. Guests in wheelchairs will need to enter and exit the ice through the ice resurfacer gate because it has a flat threshold. An Ice Factory teammate will be happy to assist you on and off the ice. For safety, we do not permit crutches or crutch types of devices to be used on the ice.

Skate at your own risk!  Our staff works hard to maintain a safe environment for everyone.  We ask that all skaters review all of our skating rules before entering the rink surface and help us keep all skaters safe during their stay.
