Advanced Class

The Advanced class (for Basic 6 and up) is the next step in skill development and progression for skaters if they choose to continue to skate recreationally, begin taking national U.S. Figure Skating tests or participate in competitions.

 

CLASS DEFINITIONS:

 

Advanced ON-ICE classes include:
                                                                                                                                      • Spins on ice (variety of positions)
• Jumps on ice (variety)
• Power Skating on ice (generate maximum speed)                                                   
• Uncaptured moves
• Introductory Moves in the Field on ice

 

WHEN:

 

Wednesday at 6pm                                                                                                      

Saturday at 11am

 

Each 8-week session includes:

30 min of instruction                                                                            

30 min of practice (before class)                                                          

1 public skating punch card

 

Advanced class skaters have an opporunity to take additional classes that include both on- and off-ice components to help the skater learn skating skill in the fastest and most progressive way, increase their strenght, power, and body condition as well as to improve overall on-ice performance.

 

Stroking class:

Saturday at 9:30am-10am    

Cost $15

 

Off ice class:

Wednesday at 6:45pm-7:30pm

Saturday at 11:45am-12:30pm    

Cost $15

 

OFF-ICE classes include:
                                                                                                                                    • Warm-up and cool-down activities
• Jump rope & jump specific exercises
• Body conditioning
• Core strength training designed to increase both confidence and endurance
