Paula Wagener - Director of Figure Skating

PSA Master Rated Choreography & Style Coach, Author and Creator of the Learn To Skate USA Artistry In Motion Program

Paula is a classically trained ballet dancer who began working with figure skaters coming from the world of elite gymnastics. Her career has included program management for a large rink management corporation overseeing 8 facilities nationwide, creating the nationally recognized choreography and style
 off and on ice program for Learn to Skate USA and is a national and international performance, choreography and dance coach. She is a frequent presenter at both US Figure Skating and PSA Conferences and camps for learn to skate - elite coaches.
She is past chair of the US Figure Skating Basic Skills Committee, past chair of the US Figure Skating National Showcase Committee, former coaching member of US Figure Skating Athlete Advisory Committee and former member of the US Figure Skating Program Development Committee as well as the US Figure Skating Learn to Skate USA Committee. Her figure skating choreography has been seen on television and professional shows as well as amateur skaters.

CALLA URBANSKI

PSA Level IV Master Rated Coach

Originally from the Chicago area, Calla has been teaching on the East Coast for over 25 years. She was a 1992 Olympian and World Team Member.

Her credo is “Dream it, Believe it, Achieve it”.  Whether teaching a competitor or a beginner skater she loves to pass on her knowledge and see her students thrive in the sport and in life!

Calla primarily specializes in Free Skate, Moves, and Pairs, Testing & Competing. She also teaches Dance, Power, Off Ice, and Hockey.

Camille Arioli-Mistura

PSA rated, Masters in Education

Camille has 20 plus years of experience coaching figure skating. She has trained skaters tot through adult. Camille has had skaters pass through Senior Moves, Senior Freestyle and Gold Dance as well as Regional through National competitors.

As a coach, Camille’s mission is to help her students achieve their goals, whatever they may be, as well as have fun along the way.

CHUEN-GUN LEE

Chuen-gun Lee is a former World and Olympic competitor. He has been teaching since 2002. He is a US Figure Skating Category A coach and Professional Skaters Association member. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education.

As a skater, Chuen-gun was a 4-time Korean National Champion, a World and Olympic Korean team member, and a national competitor for Team USA from 2004-2007. In 2014, Chuen-gun was the Adult National and World Champion. As a coach, Chuen-gun's students have taken many tests and competed at all levels through Nationals. He has also worked with Korean, International, and U.S. National Ice Dance teams.

 

He has a wife, Dr. Maria Giron, DDS, as well as two beautiful children, Cielo (7) and Matias (3).
 

Courtney Cameron

Courtney is a former Team USA member and competed internationally for six years as a member of several synchronized skating teams. She began skating over twenty years ago through a Learn-to-Skate program in Michigan. Shortly after she started performing in shows and competing regionally. Soon she joined her first synchronized skating team and before long she began competing with her teammates at qualifying competitions and eventually US Nationals. Once old enough to compete as a member of the Novice division, she and her team received their first international assignment as members of Team USA. She went on to compete at the Junior and Senior level for several more years nationally and internationally on synchronized skating teams. During her final year of intense competition, she attended the Synchronized Skating World Championships. She continued competing at the collegiate level for two more years, qualifying for and attending US Synchronized Skating National Championships.


Courtney completed her Senior Moves-in-the Field, Novice Freestyle, and Pre-Silver Ice Dance. She has taught Learn-to Skate for five years and is passionate about coaching skaters of all ages and skillsets. Courtney is enthusiastic about inspiring skaters to continue learning and growing as athletes and encouraging them to have fun while gaining new abilities

JAMIE BROOKS

PSA Member

Jamie has been coaching with Ice Factory since 2019. Growing up in the Chicago area, she fell in love with the sport at an early age. Jamie loves working with skaters of all ages, helping to foster their love of skating. She has her PSA Basic Accreditation Rating, and is a member of the A Team for the Florida Interclub Council. She enjoys introducing skaters to competitions and working with families. Most importantly, Jamie enjoys spending the time on ice together with her daughter.

Jennifer Schmitz

PSA level IV rated coach

Growing up in Bavaria she is a former National German Singles Champion representing Germany during her amateur skating career. Jennifer turned professional starring in major ice shows and TV specials all over the world.

She received the Pro Skaters Virtual Choreography award in 2011.

After her professional career, Jennifer turned to teaching, sharing her passion with her students for the past 16 years from beginner, test skater to serious competitor.

Her skating has been influenced by Monika Zappe, Diane Agle, Carlo Fassi, Robin Cousins.

Jennifer specializes in Jumps, Spins, Choreography, MIF, Skating Skills and off ice Spin class. She is trained in classical Ballet, Jazz and Tap dance.

Jennifer speaks English, German, French and Italian.

Jenny Finkler

PSA Rated, US Figure Skating (USFS) Coach, Learn to Skate Instructor

Double  US Figure skating Gold medalist in:

Standard Skating Skills (Gold test) and Adult Gold Medalist in Skating Skills

US Figure Skating Intermediate Freestyle and Silver Pattern Ice Dances passed.

Jenny is a competitive coach working with a variety of skill levels. Specializing in jumps, spins, off-ice training, HIIT training for athletes, skating skills, and choreography. 

She trained in San Francisco where she continued to skate and compete with the San Francisco Tremors National synchronized skating team. She absolutely loves inspiring young skaters to learn and grow in the sport and to always be learning! 

When Jenny isn't at the rink, she is either at Disney, at home with her husband and dog Baillie, at the gym, or running her business Dexafit Orlando where she provides fitness and metabolic testing for athletes!

TONIA WARREN

PSA Member, Learn to Skate USA instructor, CERs current, SafeSport, USFSA member and previous Board member of SCIP Figure skating club
Juvenile Freeskate and pre-silver Dance level tests passed. 25 years of coaching experience in both Virginia Beach area in mid-to-late 1990s, and SCIP in Rockledge since 2001. Taught from both USFSA learn to skate and ISI. Certified Florida Educator for 19 years throughout the state. Assistant Coach and Assistant Team Manager to Space Coast Hurricanes Theatre on Ice, working with preliminary and novice teams as well as skating on the Adult Frozens team where we competed both nationally and internationally. As a skating coach, my goal is to inspire a love for skating and encourage students to reach their full potential. I work with skaters of all ages and abilities from beginner tots to adults, from competitors to recreational skaters and skaters with special needs. One of my strengths as a coach is working with skaters to overcome a mental block and move forward to reaching their goals. I enjoy working with other coaches utilizing a strong team approach to meet the needs of the skater.

SUMMER LEBEL

PSA Rated, USFSA Coach, Learn to Skate Instructor

 

Summer started skating almost as soon as she started to walk. Growing up in Michigan, she started out pond skating before moving up to the local rink's programs. Experienced in both figure skating and hockey, she has worked with several ISI Learn to Skate programs before starting with the Ice Factory in 2021. Her specialties include basic skills, adult skating, theater on ice, and hockey.

Paloma Polanco

Paloma Polanco, nicknamed Natasha at birth by her mother. Born on a Caribbean island, she always had a passion for skating. Although limited rinks hindered her pursuit as a child, destiny had a different plan in store. It was during her teenage years that Natasha's dream of skating started to become a reality! Natasha traveled with a small skating show for years. She has experience coaching people with functional diversity and individuals of all ages, she also has experience in music, fitness, dance and martial arts, which she applies in her lessons. Natasha teaches in English or Spanish depending on the student's preference.

ERIC MUMPER

From a young age, Eric immersed himself in the world of figure skating. Guided by the expert mentorship of John Nicks, Roger Bass, and his own father Donald, a respected USFS National Referee and Gold Level Judge, Eric dedicated himself to honing his skills. As he trained rigorously under their watchful eyes, Eric's fascination with the biometrics and physics behind the sport deepened.

For over three decades, Eric has imparted his knowledge and expertise to elite competitive skaters. His specialization lies in meticulously dissecting rotational speed, air positions, take-offs, and landings. By emphasizing the minutest details, he challenges athletes to swiftly advance their technical proficiency in jumps. Recognizing the importance of muscle memory, Eric incorporates regular on- and off-ice simulation exercises and athletic development to expedite progress.

Throughout his illustrious career, Eric collaborated alongside esteemed World and Olympic coaches, tirelessly crafting techniques both on and off the ice to enhance the athletic prowess of their skaters.

Mary Scotvold

Mary's exceptional contributions to the world of figure skating earned her the prestigious PSA Coach of the Year award in 1993. Her coaching prowess and expertise were further recognized with her induction into both the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1998 and the PSA Hall of Fame in 2007, solidifying her legendary status in the sport. 

Mary's illustrious career began when she claimed the novice ladies title at the 1959 US Figure Skating Championships, a testament to her early talent and potential. Her passion for the ice flourished as she joined the renowned Ice Follies, leaving an indelible mark on her journey. However, it was in her work with Olympic medalists Paul Wylie and Nancy Kerrigan, as well as her guidance of World Junior champion Jennifer Kirk, where Mary's true impact and recognition shone. 

Through her unwavering dedication to her athletes, Mary's legacy permeates the world of figure skating with profound influence and utmost respect.
