History of the Ice Factory

The Ice Factory opened in 1998 to a high profile grand opening including an appearance and welcome to all guest by Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton. Following autographs, Scott performed as the Master of Ceremonies for the School of Performance's (a program hosted at the Ice Factory to produce Broadway-style shows with the local skating children) first grand production. They then hosted an open skating session with local radio personality Kid Cruze of XL 106.7 live on the radio!

Since then the Ice Factory has expanded and developed some of Central Florida's finest skaters and hockey players.

The mission of the Ice Factory is to offer a first quality ice skating facility to teach the local community about the benefits of recreational fun fitness in a clean and inviting environment.

Ice Factory Amenities

Situated in the heart of Central Florida, The Ice Factory is an exceptional Olympic-class ice skating center. Conveniently located near Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Orlando, it offers unparalleled opportunities for ice skating and hockey enthusiasts.

The Ice Factory amenities include:

NHL Regulation Ice Sheet - 200 ft by 85 ft
Studio Ice Sheet - 85 ft by 40 feet
750 seat stadium seating style bleachers
Large, welcoming lobby
Full Service Cafe
- Serving up fresh high-quality pizza, fruit smoothies, shakes and snack foods, Pepsi brand fountain drinks, wine, and beer.
4 locker rooms (plus 1 overflow changing room)
1 female-only locker room
1 referee locker room
Each locker room has showers and restroom
2 Large party rooms

Keith Smith - General Manager

Keith, a native of Kissimmee, has been a part of the Ice Factory family since its inception as a figure skater. From serving as our Assistant General Manager during 2008-2010, he ventured off to California to work at one of the nation's busiest 2-sheet rinks. Now, he has returned "home" to St. Cloud with his wife and son, taking on the role of Managing the Ice Factory.

Keith's passions include skating, DJing, and participating in Curling. You'll often find him joining in on games during public sessions or throwing stones with the Orlando Curling Club at The Ice Factory.

William Highfield - Assistant General Manager & Adult Hockey Director

William "Bill" Highfield is from Rochester, NY. He has skated at the rink since 1999 and joined the crew at the Ice Factory in 2009. He has held several different positions with us and is currently our Assistant General Manager as well as Adult Hockey Director.

Bill has a quick wit and uses it to put a smile on anyone's face.

Adam Barr - Guest Service Manager

Adam Barr has been with the Ice Factory team since 2018. Adam loves seeing the joy of the skaters take to the ice. He is also one of our highly skilled skate technicians. He's happy to assist you with figure skate fittings, boot adjustments, precision sharpenings, blade mounting and more!

Lenora Evans - Enrollment Coordinator

From a mere fascination with hockey to an enduring passion for the grace and thrill of ice sports, Lenora is your go-to person for all things skating. Whether you're seeking trial classes, skating school, youth hockey programs, getting fitted for skates or even planning a birthday party, she's got you covered!

Paula Wagener - Figure Skating Director

Paula is a PSA Master Rated Choreography and Style Coach who has developed several figure skating programs for over a decade for private rinks and investors. She was also the Executive Director of Figure Skating Operations for Advanced Arenas overseeing their 6 ice arenas throughout the East Coast and Midwest with over 111 figure skating coaches and directors on her staff. Her arena programs have hosted the PSA International Conference as well as the World Junior Selection Competition, US Figure Skating workshops and competitions, and celebrity camps and clinics.
