DJ – Ice Rink Session Host

Own the mic. Read the room. Bring the vibe.

Let’s be real: the energy of a public skate session is only as good as the DJ running it. We’re not looking for someone to push buttons and play top 40. We want a crowd-reading, mic-rocking, beat-dropping entertainer who knows how to keep the floor flowing and the families coming back.

At The Ice Factory, our DJ is more than a music machine — they’re the session host, the voice of the rink, the leader of games, and the heartbeat of every public skate. If you know how to build a mood, shift a vibe, and create that “we’ll be back next weekend” feeling, we want you on the mic.

What You’ll Do:

  • Curate the soundtrack for every session — blending new hits, classics, and skateable tracks (BPM matters!)

  • Keep things family-friendly and fun — no inappropriate lyrics, no awkward transitions

  • Take requests wisely — know when to say yes, when to pivot, and how to mix it into the session flow

  • Make live announcements that are clear, fun, and engaging — not just “next up: the hokey pokey”

  • Host games and mini-activities (limbo, dice game, reverse skate, Red Light/Green Light — we’ll train you)

  • Read the crowd: when to pump them up, when to slow it down, when to clear the ice for safety

  • Communicate with skate guards and management via radio

  • Stay alert and jump into emergency mode fast: light the house, clear the ice, manage the moment with calm

  • Monitor your volume and speaker levels — you’re here to entertain, not blow out eardrums

  • Keep your DJ booth and area clean, organized, and guest-ready

  • Support your team: run backup playlists, help with setup, and even take on side tasks like sweeping or helping a guest find their way

  • Be the kind of personality that makes people look forward to our public sessions

Who You Are:

  • A natural performer — not afraid of a mic, a crowd, or a little attention

  • Know your music — you understand tempo, energy, family-appropriate lyrics, and how to build a skateable set

  • Calm under pressure — whether the floor’s full or there’s only 5 skaters, you still bring your A-game

  • You’ve got solid timing, instinct, and rhythm — this isn’t a random shuffle playlist gig

  • You’re collaborative — you work with skate guards, party heroes, and management as one crew

  • You know how to read a room, pivot the mood, and control the vibe without overpowering it

  • DJ experience is great — but what matters most is your confidence, music sense, and people skills

  • Familiar with DJ software? Even better. If not, we’ll show you the ropes. No experience required.

Bonus Perks:

  • Ice time perks + flexible scheduling

  • Learn to run full-scale events and develop real entertainment skills

  • Be the person guests talk about long after the music stops

  • Team culture that supports you, hypes you up, and makes the work fun

  • A paycheck, plus all the applause (okay, not literally, but close)

This Role is NOT for You If:

You think DJing is just hitting play
❌ You freeze on the mic or dread talking to people
❌ You don’t care what songs fit a skating vibe
❌ You say yes to every song request without thinking
❌ You can’t work weekends or holidays (because that’s when the rink shines)

Bottom Line:

You are the pulse of the session. If it feels boring, it’s boring. But when you’re on the mic and on the mix, the ice comes alive.
